My Interests

OK, so what are my interests..

Firstly, I’m an Argyle fan and always will be.  You can find a few related links on my Links page.  I live and breathe Argyle now but my biggest regret is not supporting them during the 1984 FA Cup Semi Final run.  I have no idea what I was thinking but I just wasn’t interested and didn’t start supporting them until the following Christmas when I was bought a Season Ticket by my Dad.

I normally play pool and have done reasonably well since about 1987 when I first picked up a cue.  I have in the past played for Plymouth and Tavistock and I always felt as though I was good enough to play for Devon if I had wanted to.  I don’t fit in though and I’m not good enough any more as I only play twice a week and that isn’t enough to stay on top of your game. I’m no slouch either though... However, I am currently taking a break from pool for the first time in 23 years.

I build computers, not for a living but for fun.  I was first bought a ZX Spectrum 128k for Christmas 1982 and I programmed it to score at darts.  I bought an Amiga in the early 90s and that blew me away with games on disk instead of tape!  In 1997 I bought my first PC, a Packard Bell Pentium 133.  Crap by today’s standards but it was good then.  I once paid £25 to have a graphics card installed and vowed never again.  I had a mate build my next PC, an AMD K6-II 400.  I thought I’d build my own after that and built an AMD Athlon, clocked to 1Ghz.  I’ve since had a Pentium 4 running at 2.4Ghz then a Pentium 4 Hyperthreading machine at 3.2Ghz then a Pentium 4 Dual Core 2.4Ghz and now I have an Intel i7 clocked to 4Ghz, 6Gb of triple channel memory, Nvidia 7900GS PCI-Express Graphics - it’s in an Antec Lanboy Air super-cooled gaming case and it’s like greased lightning!
